Spring Lake Elementary welcomes parental involvement. We have a many great opportunities, programs, and committees for you as a parent to get involved in. One opportunity is the Spring Lake Elementary School Advisory Council (SAC). The council is made up of our Principal, Mrs. Kuniak, our Assistant Principal, Dr. Oglesby, teachers, staff, and parent volunteers.
What is SAC?
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) is a group of people who vested interest in quality education at Spring Lake Elementary School.
Who can become a member?
YOU! Anyone who is interested in making a change and a difference at Spring Lake elementary can become part of SAC. By law, each SAC must be composed of the principal and an "appropriately balanced" number of "stakeholders." These individuals must be representative of the ethnic, racial and economic makeup of the community served by the school.
What do SAC members do?
Board members will discuss, vote, and act upon issues as appropriate concerning the annual school budget as well as the school improvement plan. Additionally, SAC receives funds to be used at the discretion of the School Advisory Committee. A portion of the money should be used for implementing the school improvement plan.
When does SAC meet?
SAC meetings are scheduled monthly for only 1 hour. Specific dates will be voted upon in our first meeting (and through email) to ensure every member is able to attend despite their busy schedule. Items presented in the meeting will be recorded by the SAC's secretary and then emailed to all the members for further discussion.
All meeting dates are published in Spring Lake school calendar and SAC website. Everyone is welcome to attend.
